Testing the air

Martin Luther King is going to have to wait for his post. It'll take time, and I need to go to bed early. Sleep is important, you know.

I brought home a Hawking high gain antenna for the laptop. A coworker was kind enough to let me try it for a couple of days. It's pretty impressive. Scanning the area, I see that my neighbors all have their encryption turned on. Good for them. Two of them have 'Netgear' for their SSID, one is just 'mm32place', and then there's 'hippyhousehold'. I was able to get into the coffee shop (free wireless access) that's one block up and two blocs down from me with a 25% signal strength. Not bad. What's puzzling is the connection to my own wireless router keeps dropping out! Hmmm. Tomorrow I'll tinker some more, it's bedtime.
