Why Return to Work?
At the end of every weekend I'm faced with a disparity. I leave the academic environment, where I hone my writing talents in the company of Dillard, Plath, Martin Luther King, and Melville, to the work environment, where misuse and lack of use dull my talents. Where the air of insight, made from truths that are self evident, is replaced with a cloud of assumptions which ignore what is evident.
Oh, work pays the bills, and it pays for school, but can it really be said to aid the well being of my mind while its toxicity creates cancerous frustrations within my mind? One inoculation against the negativity of work is to find and do those few things within work that give me a sense of accomplishment. It's not always easy, but what else will I do?
