The Only Good Thief is a Dead Thief
Over on NE Alberta is a place I've donated two frames to. It's called Community Cycling Center. They recycle unwanted bikes and provide a way for kids to earn a bike of their own. Their web site states, "We use the bicycle as a tool for learning because no child can resist the draw of a bicycle."
I stopped by today to see what kind of goodies they had, and was surprised to find the place looking pretty spartan. There weren't many bikes and the two display cases were empty. Then they told me why it looked that way. Some no good bastards broke in and stole a whole lot of stuff. I thought, what kind of low life dog steals from the Community Cycling Center? The thieves stole bikes, parts, ransacked the offices, and took the safe. Doesn't sound like ordinary thieves, does it?
So, here is an organization that does what it can to help low income people and kids, and they get ripped off. In a town like this, I expect bike thieves to be treated the same way horse thieves were treated. Leave them swinging like Saddam. After a fair trial, of course.
