The One Who Started it All
There is only one person who can say they started my online efforts.
A few years ago, I sat reading at the counter of the Pendleton Shari's restaurant and overheard a conversation that got my attention. A young waitress spoke to someone about her website. I just had to know what was the content of her site was, so I politely asked. She told me that a lot of it was about her family, friends and relationships. She wanted to be a therapist.
At the time I was producing The Lost City, a kind of amateur expansion pack for a popular role playing game called Morrownd. There is a sizeable community of people who create these things and no good mod producer goes without a web site to showcase their work. You can see what happened next.
While I found Blogger by way of E-Bay, (Amerikan Turk had a Somec frame for sale, and a link to his site) the thought of having an online sounding board came from that day in Pendleton. I looked around, MySpace and others like it were cliquish and insufficient. I chose Blogger.
It's interesting how we can have an impact on others in ways we may not always know. Our young waitress left eastern Oregon and now resides on this side of the state, and I found today that she's on Blogger. It's also interesting how paths cross.

On a side note, I truly truly truly wish I had won the bid for that Somec. Somec frames are still some of the best you can get from Italy, and I regard the older frames almost as a holy relic. It would have been an excellent addition to the fleet.
Haha.. I still have the frameset and resolve not to sell it. The winning bidder was in Australia and the shipping proved to be cost-prohibitive. Nice looking blog! I will read more
How about that! I guess it turned out well after all.
